Pennies For Patients Update:

Our campaign has officially closed. Thanks to all of our Eagles and their parents for supporting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Sherwood Eagles raised over $6,000 to support the Pennies for Patients campaign. Without all of your hard work and support, this extraordinary accomplishment could not have been done!!

Our winning class room, Ms. Loera and Mr. Guzman's 4th grade dual language classes, raised an outstanding amount of $1,400. They will be rewarded with a pasta and ice cream sundae party.

Thanks to all who came out to support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients Dance. We had a great turn out, lots of fun and raised over $300.

I am very proud of the great students here at Sherwood! Way to Go!

CIS Spring Canned Food Drive Update:

During the week of March 5th-9th, CIS is collecting canned goods for the East Spring Branch Food Pantry. There are only 2 days left, so let's get those canned goods turned in!

Items accepted are: canned vegetables, canned juices, canned meats, rice, dry beans, pasta and condiments.

Of the cans collected thus far, Mrs. Sherrill's KG class and Ms. Froebel's 2nd grade class are tied! Let the competition continue! Remember, the winning class will receive a cupcake party!

Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated.

Jenny Martinez, CIS

Cameron wiil represent Sherwood at the Character Without Question District Ceremony later this month. Congratulations Cameron!
As the award states, the Character Without Question Award is given to a student who demonstrates outstanding character every single day. We are proud of our wonderful students who help make Sherwood such a terrific school!

We are also working hard to be recognized as a No Place for Hate School for the 7th year in a row. Today, we completed one of our No Place for Hate activities by participating in "Say Something Nice Day". Each Sherwood student made a commitment to say something nice to someone else during the school day. Ask your Sherwood Eagle about the Say Something Nice Day Rap.

Stay tuned for much more news!
Have a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break!

Pennies for Patients has started!

Parent letters and collection boxes were sent home with your students on Monday. Our goal this year is to raise $2,700 to support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With your help and support we can make this year just as successful as last. What a great way to show and teach our children about giving to other children in need...especially sick children! The class with the most money raised will win a pasta party from Olive Garden and the class with the most purchased paper pennies will win an ice cream sundae party from me. Please call with any questions and let the competition begin!!!

Welcome to our blog!

Dear Sherwood Eagle Blog Readers,

To blog or not to blog, that is the question our wonderful Sherwood nurse, Ms. Moreton, our fabulous CIS project manager, Ms. Aguilar, and little old me, your counselor pal, Ms. Birdsong have been asking ourselves for the past few weeks.

As you know, we all have Wiki pages. (We are confident you have read our Wiki's all ready!) While we don't have classrooms or a set group of students, we are very involved with all our Sherwood Eagles every day. So, we will blog when we need to.

Ms. Moreton will blog if she has breaking news from the clinic.

Ms. Aguilar will blog if she needs to share something regarding Communities in Schools.

I will blog if there is anything from Rm. 223 that I need to share.

For now, we are settling in to the 2011-2012 school year; check back soon for news from us.

Let the blogging begin!

Your blogger counselor pal,

Mrs. Birdsong
